Jamal Musiala is a soccer player playing for FC Bayern Munich. He is a Germany international midfielder.
Club Career
Stuttgart-born Musiala was born into a family with Nigerian, British and Polish roots. He lived in Germany until his family moved to Enlgand when he was seven-years-old. He spent time in junior clubs and academies of TSV Lehrenz, Southampton and Chelsea.
In 2019, Musiala exited Chelsea to join German club Bayern Munich with his mother leaving the United Kingdom amid Brexit. Musiala made his Bayern first-team debut in June 2020. At the time he was the youngest ever Bayern player to play in the Bundesliga, at 17 years and 115 days.
Musiala had a first-team breakthrough campaign in 2020-21, playing 37 games and scoring seven goals. He also became the club’s youngest ever scorer in an 8-0 win over Schalke 04. He was named the Bundesliga Rookie of the Month in April 2021. In March 2021, he signed a five-year contract with the Bavarians.
He continued to establish himself at Bayern, winning Bundesliga titles with the side, along with individual accolades such as being named in the Bundesliga Team of the Season in 2022-23 and 2023-24. He was the runner-up for the 2023 Kopa Trophy.
International Career
Musiala played for both England and Germany at under-age level but committed to Die Mannschaft, making his senior international debut in 2021 in a 3-0 win over Iceland.
Musiala was part of Germany’s Euro 2020, 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024 squads. He scored in Germany’s 2-1 Round of 16 win over Denmark at Euro 2024.
