David Benjamin James is a retired England international football player. He played as a goalkeeper and has often been accused of committing unsavoury howlers.
David James made his start in professional club football for Watford way back in 1989. In 1992 he was signed by Liverpool and won the League Cup with the Reds in 1995. He was a first choice at Anfield and made 214 Premier League appearances until the summer of 1999.
Aston Villa signed David James in the summer of 1999 and played for them for two seasons, making 67 Premiership matches. West Ham United then signed the player in 2001 and after three seasons and 91 Premier League matches was signed by Manchester City in the summer of 2004.
David James played 93 matches for Man City and was signed by Portsmouth in 2006. He stayed with Pompey until 2012, before stints with Bristol City, Bournemouth, IBV in Iceland and Kerala Blasters in India.
David James made his international debut for England in 1997 and has played 53 times for his nation.
