Alisson Becker

Alisson Becker, known simply as Alisson, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Premier League club Liverpool and the Brazil National Team.

Álisson Ramsés Becker was born on October 2, 1992, in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil. The imposing goalkeeper stands 193 cm (6 ft 4 in) tall.

He comes from a family of goalkeepers; his older brother Muriel Becker also plays professionally. Of German descent, Alisson holds a German passport and speaks multiple languages, including Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and English.

A devout Pentecostal Christian, Alisson has been nicknamed "The Holy Goalie" by teammates for his faith and has performed baptisms for fellow players. He is married to Natália Loewe, a doctor, and the couple has three children: Helena, Matteo, and Rafael.

He also serves as a goodwill ambassador for the World Health Organization. In 2021, he suffered a personal tragedy when his father, José Agostinho, drowned in a lake near the family's holiday home.

Career

Alisson began his career at Internacional, where he won the Campeonato Gaúcho in four consecutive seasons. He moved to Roma in 2016, where his performances earned him the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year award. In 2018, Liverpool signed him for a then-world record fee for a goalkeeper.

His impact at Anfield was immediate and transformative. He played a pivotal role in Liverpool winning the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. His individual excellence was recognized in 2019 when he won the Yashin Trophy and was named The Best FIFA Goalkeeper. He secured a second Premier League title with the club in the 2024–25 season.

Internationally, Alisson has been Brazil's first-choice goalkeeper for several major tournaments. He represented his nation at the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups and won the 2019 Copa América**, where he was named the tournament's best goalkeeper.
