Joao Pereira is a Portugal international football player who currently features for the Spanish club Valencia. He plays as a right-back.
Pereira commenced his professional football career at Portuguese giants Benfica in 2003 and played for them for three seasons, featuring in 58 league matches. He joined Gil Vicente in 2006 first on loan and then on a permanent deal, and then moved to Sporting Braga in 2007.
After two successful seasons with Braga during which he scored one goal in 67 league matches, Pereira moved to Sporting Lisbon in 2010. He continued to achieve success for one Portugal’s most famous club and played in a total of 61 matches in the league.
In May 2014 Valencia signed Pereira from Sporting Lisbon for €3.6 million.
Pereira made his international debut for Portugal in October 2010 and was part of their squad that reach the semi-finals of the Euro 2012 finals.
