Mickaël Zidro Tavares is a French born Senegalese football player who plays as a defensive midfielder for the team of Hamburger SV. So far, he has scored 8 caps for the Senegalese national team. The major teams that he has been a part of include Hamburger SV, Tours FC, Slavia Prague, 1. FC Nuremberg, Middlebrough FC and Senegal.
Tavares began his football career with the team of US Creteil, moving in 2000 to Portuguese club, FC Alverca. He returned to France after two years, signing a contract with SC Abbeville team, scoring 9 goals in 26 games in 2002-03. Later on, he moved to FC Nantes team, where he played mostly in the reserve team. In 2005, he joined the team of FC Tours, who were promoted after a year to the Ligue 2.
In July 2007, Mickael was on trial basis at Slavia Prague, signing a contract with this club post one week in the Czech Republic. In May 2008, Tavares received a call up from Cape Verde to play against Luxembourg team in preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. But Tavares did not play in the match and presently plays for the Senegal National team. He received his first cap in this team in 2009.
He gradually signed a two year contract in Prague, prior to moving to Hamburger SV on 30 January 2009. On 22nd February, 2009, he made his debut against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
On 24th January 2010, he was loaned to the team of 1. FC Nuremberg till the end of the season. By August 2010, he was assigned to train with the second team of Hamburg. On 27th August 2010, he joined the Football League Championship club, Middlesbrough team on loan basis till July 2011.
