Born on 15 October 1986 in Ontario Canada, Marcel de Jong is a Canadian soccer player of Dutch decent playing currently for Bundesliga side FC Augsburg.
He commenced his career with De Valk and moved to PSV in 2003. He signed his first senior contract with Helmond Sport in 2004 where he has made 50 appearances scoring 6 goals in two years. In 2006 he moved to Roda JC and has made maximum number of 115 appearances and has signed a deal in 2010 with FC Augsburg. He has scored 3 goals in 35 appearances till date.
De Jong played U-17 Canadian national team in 2003. He has also played for the U-20 Canadian national team at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in Netherlands. His senior debut for the National football team of Canada was made by De Jong in 2007 in a friendly match against South Africa.
De Jong has a brother named Ben who has been a European champion Taekwondo.
