Patrick Donalé Vieira is rated as one of the best players in the world. He is a French international player currently with the Italian powerhouse Inter Milan. Patrick Vieira plays as a central midfielder and is renowed for his defensive qualities, hard tackles and ball distribution. Vieira won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with France.
Patrick Vieira was actually born in Senegal in the Christian Cape Verdean community but his fmily moved to France when he just 8 year of age. He made his professional debut for AS Cannes when he was 17 and two years later 19 he was made the captain of his club.
In the summer of 1995 AC Milan signed him but Vieira could make two appearances for the first team and in 1996 when Arsenal came calling, he readily said yes. The Frenchman was signed by Arsene Wenger for just 3.5 million pounds and was to stay in London for until the end of the 2005-2006 season.
In hi ten years with Arsenal, Patrick Vieira won a host of trophies. His first taste of silverware for the Gunners came in 1998 when Arsenal won the Premiership and FA Cup double. He won a second double in 2002 and from the 2002-2003 season onward he was made the captain. He won the FA Cup in 2003 and won the Premiership trophy in 2003-2004.
But his relationship with manager Arsene Wenger soon got stained and in the summer of 2005 he was transferred to Italian superpower Juventus for 13.7 million pounds. But he was to remain for just one year with the Old Lady of Turin after Juve got relegated to the Italian Serie B due to their involvement in the calciopoli scandal of the 2006 summer.
Inter Milan signed him in the summer of 2006 for 9.5 million euros and he has since established himself at the heart of the Inter midfield and has won back to back Serie A title with Inter in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.
Patrick Vieira made his debut for France in 1997 against the Netherlands and won the 1998 World Cup and the Euro 2000. He also played for France in the 2002 World Cup, Euro 2004 and reached the final of the 2006 World Cup. He has played over 100 matches for France.
