Alvaro Daniel Pereira Barragan is a Uruguay international football player who currently features for the Italian and European giants Inter Milan. He is a wingback.

It was a slow period at first for this Montevideo native who started his football career with Miramar Misiones team in 2004. After two years, he moved to Argentina and joined Quilmes Atletico Club. He soon moved to the Argentine Primera Division, signing for Argentinos Juniors.

After six months, new opportunity saw Alvaro moving to Europe to join CFR Cluj team. He had previously impressed the selectors with his performances in the UEFA Champions League in 2007-08 and soon found himself selected in the squad of Gustavo Ferrin’s U-20 team.

In November 2008 Alvaro won himself a chance to make his first full international cap in a scoreless draw against France in a friendly match played in Paris. In his next appearance, his team won a 3-2 friendly match against Algeria in 2009, where Alvaro scored his debut international goal. He even played 90 minutes of the FIFA World cup qualifier against Paraguay. In 2011 he was part of Uruguay’s Copa America-winning squad.

Pereira joined Porto in 2009 and established himself as one of the key players in the Portuguese club’s success over the next three years. He won the league title in 2011 and 2012 and the Europa League in 2010-11.

In August 2012 Inter Milan signed Pereira from Porto for €10 million
