Jose Mourinho, a two-time winner of European footballâs most coveted prize with Inter and Porto will be hoping to become the first manager in history to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy with three different clubs, when his side takes on Galatasaray.
Galatasaray will be not pushovers for the Chelsea team. In fact the Galas have shown that they have what it takes to pull off a Champions League stunner.
Roberto Mancini has a very versatile team. They can play in many in different formations depending on the situation and have a brilliant, experienced striker in the form of Didier Drogba up front. However, unlike his counterpart, Mancini has not been able to do well in the Champions League.
Drogba who had scored the winner for Chelsea in the 2012 final giving Chelsea their first ever Champions League crown will now look to knock them out of the competition on his return to the Bridge. His return will make this game a highly emotional one for both players and fans.
Wesley Sneijder will have a very important role in midfield. He will have to crack down a Chelsea defence which has been really strong at home through all competitions this season.
Chelsea on the other hand will look to change their fortunes after the shocking 1-0 victory at the hands of Aston Villa over the weekend. That game saw Chelsea receive two red cards, but those suspensions do not apply in the Champions League.
In the last seven home European knockout matches Chelsea have recorded six wins and one draw. This only justifies that Galatasaray will not have it easy when the go to London.
Fernando Torres who scored for Chelsea in the away game will be hoping to get his name on the score sheet if he gets the nod to start this game as well. But Mou has been known to make loads of changes to his team as he has a huge squad of very talented players.
When asked about playing against Chelsea, Drogba said, âI had mixed feelings. First of all I was happy to play against my ex-club, against my friends. But at the same time it is a very special moment because I do not know what my reaction will be. You know that I spent eight years at Chelsea, so I really donât know. I am quite apprehensive about it.â
Will Drogba be able to break down the proverbial âBlue Busâ at the bridge? Tune in at 1945 GMT on Tuesday evening to find out.
