Manchester United drop points at the White Hart Lane after drawing 1-1 against Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League.
The match started with Manchester United having major possession of the ball and testing the resistance of Hugo Loris quite a few times early in the game. Robin Van Persie once gain gave his team the lead n the 25th minute. The game progressed with United playing well and it seemed that it was just another day at the office for United.
The United goal was a perfect team move straight out from the training manual involving Michael Carrick, Shinji Kagawa, Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverly and then lastly Van Persie who put the ball in to the net with a powerful header.
Tottenham with the speed of Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale were swift on the counter attack making David De Gea make few saves in the first half.
After the break Tottenham came out with a mission and played superior football than Manchester United. They had more possession of the ball and looked threatening with each move towards goal. On three one-on-one occasions De Gea made awesome saves ensuring that his team would remain in the lead.
Wayne Rooney came on as a substitute in the second half and had a penalty shout that was waved away by referee, Chris Foy.
Foy who usually refrains from giving out cards at players waved the yellow card at five players. Rafael Da Silva, Patrice Evra, Carrick, Rooney from Manchester United and Michael Dawson of Spurs all saw their names been taken.
It wasn’t until late; really late in the second half that Clint Dempsey finally put the all passed De Gea. Tottenham had quite a few corners towards the end of the game and the goal was a result of some horrid defending and scrappy footwork. Dempsey equalized in the third minute of stoppage time.
Lennon and De Gea were the outstanding players for their respective teams.
This result leaves Manchester United five points ahead of the noisy neighbors Manchester City at the top of the table while, Tottenham stay in fourth spot four points clear of Everton who play Southampton later in the week.
