Tottenham Hotspur and Queen Park Rangers play out a rather disappointing and slow goalless draw. Julio Cesar was certainly the man of the match for QPR as he made exceptional saves that ensured that his team earned a very hard fought point against an inform Spurs line-up.
Due to this draw and Chelsea’s victory over Stoke, Tottenham Hotspur have dropped one spot in the table to fourth. The front-men Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor missed easy chances early in the game as Julio Cesar made a wonderful double save, to ensure it remained 0-0 at halftime.
The Rangers played a decent game as the back line remained resilient to ensure they did not concede any goals but the play upfront lacked finesse and creativity.
Adel Taarabt sent a wonderful through ball into the path of Shaun Wright-Phillips only for his shot to unfortunately get a deflection off Michael Dawson and hitting the side netting.
Spurs manager, Andre Villas-Boas was compelled to make an early substitution as Sandro got injured. He had to be replaced by Scott Parker. Reports say that Sandro has damaged his knee.
It was Wright-Phillips once again just before half time. He made a run down the wing but instead of passing the ball to Taarabt took a shot by himself, the ball ended up going nowhere close to goal.
The second half saw the Spurs play with a little more vigor and hunger. Defoe managed to get a free kick just a minute into the second half as he was fouled by Ryan Nelsen. Bale took the shot and forced Cesar into a valiant save as the ball dipped after crossing the wall.
A few minute later Spurs had another opportunity to take the lead with another free kick which was put inches above the post by Kyle Walker while Cesar was rooted to his spot.
Adebayor was then subbed as he wasted an opportunity for Spurs to take the lead. He has not had a good season at all.
Overall the game had nothing much to take the fans off their seats. At the end of the match day, Spurs sit in fourth spot with 40 points from 22 games and Queens Park Rangers are still languishing at the bottom of the table with 14 points from as many games.
