Spurs Boosted By Permanent Adebayor Deal

Tottenham have received some much-needed good news with the permanent re-signing of striker Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City.

The Togo international scored 18 goals for Spurs on loan last term, but returned to City training in the off-season, despite reportedly always being keen to stay at White Hart Lane.

The deal to keep Adebayor, who had fallen out of favour under Roberto Mancini at Etihad Stadium, is a boost for Spurs, who are set to lose key midfielder Luka Modric and lost their league opener 2-1 to Newcastle.

“I am pleased to be signing for Spurs on a permanent basis after finally agreeing my departure with Manchester City,” Adebayor told the club’s website.

“It may have taken longer than expected but I am delighted to be back at Tottenham Hotspur. I really enjoyed my time here last season and I am hoping we can achieve great things together again.”

Spurs let Louis Saha depart in the off-season, while last term they offloaded Roman Pavlyuchenko, Peter Crouch and Robbie Keane, meaning Jermaine Defoe was their only listed striker, but he’s now permanently joined by Adebayor.
