Italy international midfielder Simone Perrotta could miss the Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland next month after injuring his calf in AS Roma’s Coppa Italia success over Inter Milan on Sunday night.

Perrotta was in excellent form against Inter on Sunday and scored the second goal for AS Roma in their 2-1 win. But he suffered an injury to his calf with just over 15 minutes of the final remaining and had to be substituted.

It is being feared that Simone Perrotta could be out for several weeks because of the injury and this has raised doubts on his participation in the Euro finals. He was named in the 24-man provisional squad named by the Italian national coach Roberto Donadoni and the 2006 World Cup winner was certain to be starter for Italy in Austria and Switzerland.

But now his participation is in doubt. He is set to undergo a scan soon and only after that would Donadoni take his final decision on the player.
