Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has bemoaned fatigued within his squad after Monday’s shock 2-1 home loss to struggling Fulham which saw them miss the chance to go top.

The Foxes could’ve drawn level on points with Tottenham at the summit with a win and gone past the Reds with a healthy victory but were soundly beaten by the Cottagers who claimed just their second triumph of the campaign.

First-half goals to Ademola Lookman and Ivan Cavaleiro, finally converting a Fulham penalty, put the visitors in control before Leicester added some late pressure when Jamie Vardy set up Harvey Barnes’ 86th minute goal.

“I think there are one or two of the players that struggle with it, you just see in their freshness,” Rodgers said post-game.

“Naturally, were going to feel that, but of course, you still go into the game and look to perform as best we can.

“We rotate the team enough to make sure the teams fresh, but tonight, we weren’t to our level.”

The defeat leaves Leicester City down in fourth, while Fulham climb out of the drop zone and up to 17th.

Elsewhere, West Ham United rose up fifth with a 2-1 home win over Aston Villa who continue to slide down the ladder.

Jarrod Bowen scored a 46th minute winner after both sides traded goals in the first half, including a fine Jack Grealish strike.

Hammers boss David Moyes said: “Its a great start and I hope we can keep that up.

“Its something which we cant promise the supporters and I said at the start of the season, lets stop promising the supporters what we can do. Lets go about it and over-achieve if we can.”
