Unwanted Liverpool man Loris Karius looks set to continue his sad story as another twist in the journey that took him from the Champions League final to the Turkish Super Lig has emerged.

The Daily Mail has reported that the German will be released from his loan contract early, with Besiktas paying a handsome 400,000 to do so. This will help the side avoid a clause that forces them to buy Karius for 10million, but it places further doubt over the stopper’s future in the game.

Things haven’t been easy for Loris Karius since the day that was supposed to be the best of his career: the Champions League final against Real Madrid. But two awful mistakes led to Jurgen Klopp to conclude that he wasn’t part of his first team plans and then buy Alisson Becker.

Not Required

Where does he go now? There have been so many conflicting stories about the future of the German, but it finally appears as if those will be drawn to a close. Karius won’t want to sit on the bench and watch Alisson play the games he wants to play, but despite nearly two seasons of regular football it would appear as if the community views him as damaged goods.

There is a still a good goalkeeper in there somewhere, but the fear has to be that his performance against Madrid was so damaging that it’s impacted his confidence in a way that will take some time to recover from.

Eyes On Him

He’s a marked man, too, and any mistake will be ruthlessly cut and spliced and put on YouTube for people to laugh at.

But what do Liverpool do with their surprise summer acquisition? Adrian has seen his performance levels dip since he got back into the side for the Chelsea FA Cup game and the Atletico Madrid loss in the Champions League and his future no longer looks as secure as it once was. But Karius won’t want to warm the bench.

A Solution?

They will have to look towards other top flight sides, and if Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards keeps the asking price at around 10million he should have a few suitors lining up. There could be, then, a solution that works for all parties and brings this twisty, turney saga to a close.
