A Silverstone racing school, England graduate, Parthiva Sureshwaren won the National championship for Esteem Saloon cars at the young age of 17, the same year he graduated from the racing school. Sureshwaren was also crowned the Indian National Karting champion, in the same year, 1998. The very next year Sureshwaren participated in the British Formula Ford Winter series, and also set a national record by winning 8 races out of 10, clinching the Indian National Formula Maruti championship.

In 2000, Sureshwaren finished 2nd overall in the Formula Asia championship, a result of 3 races wins from 12 races and 6 pole positions. This also resulted in the Rookie of the Year honors for him. The following year he once again participated in the British Formula Three championship, where he participated in 18 races, finishing in the top 6 consistently.

In 2002, Sureshwaren moved onto the Barber Dodge Pro Series, USA and further participated in the support races for the Champ Car World Series. The next year, he represented India in the International kart race, held in Colombo. Sureshwaren won the event and also participated in the Formula Three and Rotax kart racing in the same year.

In 2005, Sureshwaren entered the World Series by Renault championship, driving for RC motorsport, in Barcelona. He also underwent some pre-season testing with an Italian team, GD Racing, in Spain and France. The same year, Sureshwaren tested with Raikkonen Robertson racing, at Pembrey.

Only in 2006, Sureshwaren participated in the rookie session, for the Indian entry into the A1 GP, A1 Team India. The race was held in Indonesia. In 2007, he returned with A1 Team India and raced in the Australian round, finished in 15th place, from a total of 23 entries. In the same year, Sureshwaren participated in the Formula Renault V6 Asia championship, driving for Eurasia Motorsport.
