Kim Couture
Kim Couture is professional mixed martial artist who used to compete in the Bantamweight division. She was formerly married to MMA legend Randy Couture and chose not to revert back to her maiden name after the divorce. She stands at 5’8” and weighed 134 pounds at her last weigh in.
Born Kimberly Joy Borrego on December 18, 1975 in Walsenburg, Colorado, Couture was already athletic at a young age. She was into track, volleyball, and basketball. Her interest and training in mixed martial arts, however, started when she met her then husband, Randy Couture.
She started training at a Jiu-Jitsu training center, J-Sect, in 2004 but did not consider fighting in octagon. It was only when Gina Carano joined the Xtreme Couture gym, the brand she and Randy established, that Couture actually decided to become a fighter.
She fought against Kim Rose for her MMA debut on June 2008 and was overwhelmed with a broken jaw on the first round. On her next fight, she won against Akulina Kvokov but she was defeated again on her third fight with Kerry Vera at Strikeforce – Challengers 5 via knockout. In 2009, she was supposed to go against Miesha Tate but she ended up withdrawing from the fight due to reasons she would not disclose.
Couture then went on to have wins against Rosa Vizcarra and Felicia Wells. However, she has a five-match losing streak since 2010 up to 2014. Her last match was with Alexis Dufresne at RDC MMA – Reto de Campeones 3 and she lost the fight via knockout. Couture has a professional record of 3 wins and 8 losses.
