Jorge Rivera
Jorge Rivera, known in the ring as El Conquistador, is a retired American mixed martial artist who fough in the Middleweigh division. He has fought in 12 different stints in the UFC, but also fought in The Ultimate Figher 4, Cage Warrios, and Cage Rage in England. He retired from MMA stating his age as a reason.
Rivera was born in Puerto Rico but then moved to Massachusetts. Being an ethnic minority, Rivera and his siblings would always be involved in street fights, his earliest introduction to fighting. When he turned 25 years old, Rivera began formally training in mixed martial arts. His professional career would only start after his military service which ended in 1991.
His first professional fight was against Branden Lee Hinkle. Lee Hinkle was been fighting professionally for three years before fighting against Rivera. Rivera held his own but then lost to a TKO. His first fight in the renowned ring of the UFC was against David Loiseau at the UFC 44 where Rivera enjoyed a sweet unanimous decision victory. His next unanimous decision victory would not be until the UFC 55 against Dennis Hallman. Rivera’s last fight before retiring was against Eric Schafer scheduled in January 20, 2012 at the UFC on FX 1. He won the fight by TKO due to punches, giving Jorge a sweet end to his MMA professional career.
