Dave Strasser
Dave Strasser is a retired American mixed martial arts fighter born on July 13, 1969. He competed in the Welterweight division for the UFC, Shooto, M-1 Global, and Cage Rage.
Coming from a very athletic family, it comes to no surprise that Strasse became competitive in wrestling even at a young age. His father was an all-state sprinter and football player recruited by Miami University. Strasser's uncle was a talented weightlifter while his siblings' excel in their respective sport themselves.
Strasser also practiced boxing and Shidokan Karate. He even went to Japan to train Shidokan and compete in kickboxing tournaments.
His first successful win in professional MMA was during his debut fight against CG Sierra at the QCU 2 in May 1996 where he won via rear-naked choke submission. He won against with the same submission move at the Gladiators 1 in July 1996 against Travis Fulton. He also had successful stints at the EC and won against athletes like Rolando Higueros, Caz Daniels, Jesse Jones, Phil Johns, Brett Al-azzawi and Daniel Vianna.
He first joined UFC in 2003 against Romie Aram for his debut fight, where won by unanimous decision. He went back fighting in several other competitions like the FCC, GCM and Combat Challenge afterwards. His latest win was against Steve Corley at the FCC 34, March 2008.
He has a career record of 33 fights with 25 wins and 8 losses.
