Nickolas Robert Diaz is an American mixed martial artist that is currently fighting at the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was a former two-time world champion and has been competing professionally since 2001.He is currently associated with the Cesar Gracie Fight Tea, and fights at the Welterweight Division.

With an America-Mexican Heritage, he was initially inclined with swimming. He later on began training in karate and aikido and also joined in wrestling tournaments during his teen years. He is the older brother of UFC Fighter Nate Diaz.

Prior to fighting in the UFC, he also competed for PRIDE, Strikeforce, ELiteXC, WEC, Shooto and DREAM. He won the championship belt in the Welterweight Division of the Strikeforce and the WEC.

His professional fight was against Mike Wick in 2001 at the IFC WC 15 – Warriors Challenge 15 vi a triangle choke submission. The next year, 2002, he won against Christ Lytle at the IFC WC 17. His first professional lost was against Jeremy Jackson at the UA 4 King of the Mountain in September 2002 suffering a TKO. His short stint in Shooto was also a defeat against mixed martial artist Kuniyoshi Hironaka in 2002 via a split decision.

He debuted in the UFC 44- Undisputed and fought against Jeremy Jackson winning via a submission. Prior to that fight, he had already defeated Jeremy Jackson at the IFC WC 18 during the same year, via a TKO.

After winning against BJ Penn in 2011 at the UFC 137, he suffered losses against Carlos Condit and Georges St. Pierre at the UFC 143 and the UFC 158.

At present, Diaz has a record of 35 fights with 26 wins and 9 losses.
