Tyron Woodley

Tyron Woodley, nicknamed "The Chosen One", is a professional boxer and mixed martial arts fighter from the United States of America. He is a former welterweight champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Tyron Woodley was born on April 17, 1982, in Ferguson, Missouri in the United States of America. He stands 175 cm tall and has a reach of 188 cm. His weight was last listed at 77 kg and he has fought in the welterweight and cruiserweight divisions.

He has been a part of the Roufusport, American Top Team, and ATT Evolution teams. He has been active in MMA since 2006 and only started boxing in 2021.

Career

Woodley turned pro in 2009. His first professional fight was against Steve Schneider in February. He won that fight then in April of the same year, he won against Jeff Carstens. After that win against Carstens through to January 2012, he remained undefeated in eight fights. Some of the fighters he took down include Nathan Coy and Zach Light.

His first professional loss was also his last fight for the promoter Strikeforce. It was against Nate Marquardt in July 2012.

In February 2013, he started fighting for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His first opponent was Jay Hieron. He won that fight against Hieron. Then in June 2013, he lost to Jake Shields. Woodley followed this with wins against Josh Koscheck and Carlos Condit.

In June 2014, he lost to Rory MacDonald. From 2014 to September 2018, he had six wins and one draw fight. In March 2019, he lost to Kamaru Usman. This was followed by three more losses in 2020 and 2021. His latest MMA fight was his loss against Vicente Luque in March 2021. Then in August and December 2021, he lost to Jake Paul.
