Jake Shields is known for being a highly competitive mixed martial artist who is relentless in exerting pressure on an opponent. This American fighter was the last Rumble on the Rock Welterweight Champion, the only Elite XC Welterweight Champion, and a former champion in both the Middleweight of the Strikeforce and Welterweight Division in Shooto.

This American fighter was born on January 9, 1979 and was raised in Sierra Nevada, California. He was into wrestling during his younger years and he also enjoyed other sports like snowboarding, mountain climbing, caving, and mountain biking. At the age of 9, he began amateur wrestling and become a varsity wrestler and state qualifier in high school.

His first professional fight was against Paul Harrison at the CFF where he won via TKO. He also went up against Jeremy Jackson in the GC 6- Caged Beasts in 2001 and won via a rear-naked choke submission. He had an impressive 15 win after being defeated by Akira Kikuchi in the Shooto Year End Show in 2004. His 15 win streak included victories against Carlos Condit, Mike Pyle, Robbie Lawler, Jason Miller and Dan Henderson.

However, he lost against Georges St. Pierre at the UFC 129 in April 2011. He suffered another defeat in the same year, September against Jake Ellenberger in the UFC Fight Night 25 via a TKO. By combining the powerful transitions of wrestling and the submission techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Shields was able to develop his own style of fighting called American Jiu-Jitsu.

Shields is currently fighting in the welterweight division of the WSOF. His last fight was against Danny Davis Jr. and it ended with a win via Unanimous Decision. Jake Shields has a current record of 43 fights with 32 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw, and 1 NC.
