Donald Cerrone
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is an American MMA artist that is currently
fighting at the UFC lightweight division. He is a former professional
kickboxer and currently holds the number 2 spot in the official IFC
lightweight rankings. He also competed in the WEC and holds the record of
the most post-fight bonuses in the UFC and WEC.
Cerrone was born in Denver, Colorado on March 29, 1983. As a child, he was
diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and would often be involved in
fights growing up. He began his professional career in bull riding during
high school. During his second year, he was inclined into kickboxing and
managed to create an undefeated amateur record of 13-0. He later on trained
in Muay Thai and competed professionally establishing a 28-0 streak with 18
first-round KO wins before he entfered the MMA. His first loss was against
Jamie Varner at the WEC 38 for the title match.
His debut in the UFC was in 2011 where he fought against Paul Kelly at the
UFC 126. He won 3 more consecutive fights before losing against Nate Diaz
at the UFC 141 via unanimous decision.
At present, he has a winning streak of 8 wins defeating Benson Henderson
and John Makdessi in his last two fights at the UFC Fight Night 59 and the
UFC 187 this 2015.
At present he has a fighting record of 34 fights with 28 wins and 6 losses
and one NC. He is scheduled to fight against Rafael Doa Anjos in the UFC on
Fox 17 this coming December 19, 2015 at Orlando, Florida.
