Matt Duchene is a Canadian center on the Colorado Avalanche.

Duchene was drafted 3rd overall in 2009 by Colorado, after playing two seasons in the OHL with the Brampton Battalion. Duchene’s sophomore season in the OHL earned him recognition as one of the top prospects going into the draft, and there was some speculation that Duchene could even be selected first overall. In the end, Duchene was selected by Colorado, which was, coincidentally, his favorite NHL franchise. In his final season with the Brampton Battalion, Duchene recorded 31 goals and 79 points.

Duchene did not make the 2009 Canadian junior team, but played for Canada at a number of junior tournaments, winning 3 gold medals, including one at the U-18 World Juniors.
