Mark Streit
Mark Streit is a Swiss defenseman on the New York Islanders.
Streit was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2004, after playing in the Swiss Nationalliga for nearly ten years. He came to Montreal in 2005, and in 2008, emerged as one of the top offensive defensemen in the NHL, scoring 13 goals and recording 62 points. These numbers brought him heavy attention during the offseason, in which he was a free agent, and earned him a large contract with the Islanders.
Streit has played for the Swiss national team a number of times, and has been part of many of their small successes, including rare wins over teams like Canada and the Czech Republic.
