Matt Cooke is a Canadian left winger on the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Cooke was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1997, after an impressive career in the OHL. He joined the Canucks in 1998-99, where he began to create a niche for himself as one of the league’s most successful agitators. Cooke put up the best numbers of his career in 2002-03, when he finished with a career high 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points. He was traded to the Washington Capitals at the 2008 trade deadline. He signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2008 offseason, to replace former Pens’ agitator Jarkko Ruutu.

Cooke played for Team Canada at the 1998 World Junior Championships, as well as winning a gold medal at the 2004 World Championships.
