Vesa Toskala is a Finnish goalie on the Calgary Flames

Toskala was drafted by San Jose in 1995, and remained playing in the Finnish SM-liiga. Toskala ended up splitting time the entire time he played in San Jose, as Evgeni Nabokov and Miika Kiprusoff were both beginning their careers as star goaltenders. Toskala always performed well in San Jose, but never played more than 38 games in a season. In 2006-07, he won 26 games and posted a 2.35 GAA. Toskala was signed by Toronto in 2007. At first, he split time as a starter with Andrew Raycroft, but his numbers were much better by the middle of the season, and he was made the starting goalie. He played miserably in 2009-10, winning just 7 of 23 starts and posting an awful 3.66 GAA. He was traded to Anaheim near the trade deadline but was immediately shuffled to Calgary, where he won two of the 3 games he started. He'll remain in Calgary to backup Miikka Kiprusoff.
