Scott Niedermayer is a Canadian defenseman on the Anaheim Ducks.
Niedermayer, whose younger brother Rob is also on the Ducks, was drafted 3rd overall by New Jersey in 1991. Niedermayer would spend 12 years in a Devils’ uniform, winning 3 Stanley Cups in ’95, 2000 and 2003. One of the top offensive defensemen of all time, Niedermayer consistently finishes seasons with upwards of 30-40 points. In 2005, after the lockout, he signed with Anaheim, where he had the best season of his career in 2006-07, with 54 assists and 69 points, as he led the Ducks to their first and his fourth Stanley Cup.
Niedermayer is the only NHL player to have won what are considered the 6 biggest international and North American championships. Aside from his 4 Stanley Cups, Niedermayer is a member of the Triple Gold Club, winning gold medals at the 2002 Winter Olympics and the 2004 World Championships. He also won a gold medal at the 2004 World Cup, as well as at the 1991 World Juniors. On top of all of these different titles, Niedermayer won the Memorial Cup as a member of the Kamloops Blazers in 1992. He has been an NHL All-Star on a number of occasions, as well as winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2007.
