Calgary Flames (25-12-4, 54 pts): Calgary has been one of the most consistent teams in recent seasons, but this season they finally seem to have what it takes to play at the top of the league. >
Led by superstar Jarome Iginla, the Flames have one of the top offenses in the league. Calgary has a well rounded attack, with every player on their top two lines recording over 20 points already. Consistent offensive production from multiple lines is a great asset for any team to have, because a solid team offense is much more difficult to defend against when compared to a single threat offense.
Dion Phaneuf has developed into one of the finest defensive players in the league. Phaneuf has been the staple of the Flames’ defensive corps, logging over 27 minutes of ice time a game. Miikka Kiprusoff has been just as valuable to the Flames’ season, as he has played in all but 2 games this season. His 2.83 GAA has carried the Flames to the top of the Northwest Division, and he will most likely have to continue his play if Calgary has any postseason aspirations.
