Fines and Suspensions Handed to LIV Players

The DP World Tour fined and banned 26 of its players who have competed in the LIV and Asian Tour events without consent.

The sanctions depend on the individual cases and range from ÂŁ12,500 to ÂŁ100,000 for every beach. The suspensions were for upwards of eight tournaments.

Those players who have resigned will not be reinstated until they have paid their fines but the suspensions still apply. The sanctions relate to the breaches between June 2022 and April 2023.

Back in April, an arbitration panel sided with the DP World Tour in its battle against 12 players who appealed against the initial fines and suspensions.

Afterward, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter, Sergio Garcia, and Richard Bland resigned their membership. Garcia was the only one who paid the ÂŁ100,000 fine.

In a statement, the DP World Tour said:

“Sanctions imposed were determined on a case-by-case basis, acknowledging differences between the events in terms of the impact on the DP World Tour’s broadcast partners, sponsors, and stakeholders”.

The Porsche European Open which will run from June 1 to June 4 will be the first tournament where the suspensions will be imposed.

The DP world tour also added: “Further sanctions for breaches of the conflicting tournament regulation in events which occurred subsequent to 2 April 2023, will be considered in due course.”
