A “defensive lineman” is an American football term which refers to players whose specialization is to stop any play at the line of scrimmage. The offensive line belongs to the team with current possession of the ball while those on the opposite team are called the defensive line.
Also called rushers, a defensive lineman is either a “defensive tackle” (DT) or a “defensive end” (DE).
