Nick Bosa is an active American professional football defensive end for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). Throughout his career, he won a number of accolades, including the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award.

Nicholas John Bosa was born on October 23, 1997, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, United States of America. The elite defensive end stands 193 cm tall, and carries a playing weight of 121 kg.He attended the prestigious St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, where he was a highly decorated multi-year starter, earning First-team All-State honors and securing a consensus five-star recruiting rank as one of the top high school defensive prospects in the country.
Following his brother's footsteps to Ohio State University, Bosa played for the Buckeyes from 2016 to 2018.
He became an absolute terror for opposing quarterbacks during his sophomore campaign in 2017, racking up 8.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss to claim First-team All-American and Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year honors before an early-season core muscle injury in 2018 prompted him to focus entirely on his professional transition.
Professional Career
Bosa was selected by the San Francisco 49ers with the second overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.He enjoyed an immediate, spectacular breakout as a rookie, recording nine sacks and spearheading a dominant defensive front that propelled the 49ers all the way to an appearance in Super Bowl LIV. His phenomenal debut was rewarded with the 2019 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. After facing severe adversity in 2020 when a torn ACL cut his sophomore season short in Week 2, Bosa staged a magnificent comeback campaign in 2021, leading the entire league with 21 tackles for loss alongside 15.5 sacks.
In 2022, Bosa put together an completely unstoppable campaign, leading the NFL with a career-high 18.5 sacks to comfortably win the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, a First-team All-Pro nod, and the prestigious Deacon Jones Award.
After continuing his elite tier of production with consecutive Pro Bowl campaigns through 2024, Bosa's 2025 season was disrupted by injuries that limited him to just three games, though he remained highly efficient by registering two sacks and two forced fumbles. Fully recovered and entering the 2026 offseason program, Bosa remains the undisputed anchor of San Francisco's defensive identity.
