Professional Career

He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2017 NFL Draft. They picked him in the first round, making him the 10th overall selection.

During his professional career, Mahomes served as a backup in his rookie season before taking over as the full-time starter in 2018. He immediately produced a historic season, throwing for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns. For his incredible breakout performance, he was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year.

In the 2019 season, he led the Chiefs to a victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, earning his first Super Bowl MVP award. The following season, he guided the team back to Super Bowl LV, where they were defeated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During the 2022 season, Mahomes led the league in both passing yards and passing touchdowns, which resulted in his second NFL MVP award. He concluded the season by leading the Chiefs to a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII, where he was named Super Bowl MVP for a second time.

He led the Chiefs to a second consecutive championship the following year, defeating the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII and securing his third Super Bowl MVP award. In the 2024 season, Mahomes and the Chiefs reached a third straight Super Bowl but were defeated by the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
