Aaron Jones is an active American professional football running back for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). A dynamic dual-threat playmaker, he spent seven seasons as a cornerstone of the Green Bay Packers' offense before joining their division rival, the Vikings, in 2024.

Aaron LaRae Jones Sr. was born on December 2, 1994, in Savannah, Georgia, United States of America. He stands 178 cm tall, and weighs 94 kg. Both of his parents, Alvin Sr. and Vurgess Jones, served as non-commissioned officers in the U.S. Army, leading the family to move frequently across Germany, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia before settling in El Paso, Texas.He attended Burges High School in El Paso, where he became a local legend. By his senior year, he was a three-star recruit and chose to stay close to home for his collegiate career.
Personal Life
Jones is deeply connected to his El Paso roots, often celebrating touchdowns with a "915" finger gesture (the city's area code) and arriving at games wearing a signature sombrero.He wears a custom diamond chain containing the ashes of his father, Alvin Sr., who passed away in 2021. Alongside his twin brother, Alvin Jr., he operates the A&A All the Way Foundation, which supports youth and military families.
College and Professional Career
Jones played college football for the UTEP Miners from 2013 to 2016, becoming the most prolific rusher in program history with 4,114 career rushing yards. Despite an injury-shortened junior season, he finished his senior year with a school-record 1,773 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.He was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round (182nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. Jones quickly ascended the depth chart, and by 2019, he led the NFL in rushing touchdowns (16, tied with Derrick Henry). He earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2020 and signed a significant four-year extension with Green Bay in 2021.
In March 2024, after being released by the Packers following a contract dispute, Jones signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings. He made an immediate impact, recording 1,138 rushing yards in his first season in Minnesota. Despite battling injuries during the 2025 campaign, he remained a vital part of the offense. In March 2026, Jones agreed to a revised contract extension to remain with the Vikings through the 2026 season.
