He attended Clairton High School in Pennsylvania, where he put together one of the most legendary high school football careers in Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) history.

Committing to the University of Pittsburgh, Boyd suited up for the Panthers from 2013 to 2015. He made an immediate, historic splash as a true freshman, breaking Larry Fitzgerald's Pitt freshman records for receptions (85) and receiving yards (1,174) while also setting an ACC record for freshman catches.

Boyd maintained his elite trajectory over his sophomore and junior campaigns, displaying superb hands and dynamic utility as a return specialist to secure consecutive First-team All-ACC selections before entering the professional ranks.

Professional Career

Boyd was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round (55th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He spent his initial seasons developing into one of the premier slot receivers in the NFL. His absolute definitive breakout campaigns arrived back-to-back in 2018 and 2019, when he stepped up as the top option in Cincinnati's passing offense to record consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons. As the Bengals reconstructed their roster with the arrivals of Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins.

Boyd flawlessly transitioned into a master veteran security blanket, providing crucial third-down conversions and immaculate locker-room leadership that powered Cincinnati to an appearance in Super Bowl LVI.

In May 2024, after catching 552 passes and 31 touchdowns across eight outstanding seasons in Cincinnati, Boyd signed a one-year, $2.4 million contract with the Tennessee Titans.

With his contract concluding at the end of the 2024 campaign, Boyd did not register active stats during the 2025 season and heads into the 2026 free agency framework as a battle-tested.
