Josh Betts is an American former football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).

He spent multiple seasons developing within the high-powered Indianapolis Colts organization during the peak of the Peyton Manning era.

Player Profile, High School, and College Career

Joshua Kane Betts was born on August 25, 1982, in Vandalia, Ohio, United States. The Quarterback stands 188 cm tall, and his playing weight was last listed at 98 kg.

He attended Butler High School in Vandalia, Ohio, where he excelled as an accurate, pocket-passing signal-caller. Committing to Miami University, Betts faced one of the most daunting roles in college football.

Betts answered the challenge beautifully. In 2004, he blossomed into an elite leader for the RedHawks, becoming only the second quarterback in Miami history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a single season. Alongside his massive on-field production, Betts excelled at an elite level academically, maintaining a stellar GPA as a finance major to claim 2004 Academic All-District First-Team honors.

Professional Career

Betts went undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft but signed as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in May 2006.

He spent his entire rookie season learning the complexities of the Colts' offense on the practice squad, earning a reserve/future contract in February 2007. Betts received his most extensive professional game action during the 2007 NFL preseason, routinely anchoring the fourth-quarter offense.

In the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys, he executed two efficient drives, completing 9 of 14 passes for 77 yards and a touchdown.

Though he encountered adversity in his next outing against Chicago with two interceptions under heavy interior pressure, Betts completely redeemed himself in the preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals, throwing for 154 yards and a touchdown to finish the summer on a high note.

The Colts waived Betts in July 2008 following the signings of veteran backups Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen. He returned briefly to the Indianapolis practice squad that September before a shifting rotation of quarterbacks led to his release. He concluded his professional gridiron journey in 2009 by spending the offseason program competing with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League.

Off the Field

Off the field, Betts cleanly translated his academic discipline and analytical background into a highly successful corporate executive career.

After stepping away from professional football, he returned to his home state to join Zimmer Biomet, a trusted global brand in personalized bone and joint healthcare. Leveraging his background in finance and strategic management, Betts has served for years as a successful medical device territory leader and regional manager across Ohio.

He remains a proud representative of the Miami RedHawks alumni network, frequently supporting youth sports development initiatives and academic-athletic scholarship programs throughout the Midwest.
