Morden Corinthians Cricket Club originally started playing as a third team within Mordan Cricket Club. The team played all of their matches away from their hometown. This club is anchored by four vibrant competitive teams.

The team had a set of fixtures that were set up with many local clubs in Surrey. But, most of the Morden Third Team players were drafted into the second team, which left the third team with less squad and unable to fulfill their pre-planned fixtures.

Irrespective of many efforts to rectify this situation, the third team were of the view that the position was unworkable and early 1997, the team decided to separate their ties with the parent club. Post this, the club grew at a steady rate though at the expanse of Robin Hood Cricket Club, which was another local club, folded in 2000.

After ten successful years as Morden Corinthians, the members voted at the annual general meeting of the club in 2008 to change the club name to Wimbledon Corinthians cricket club. This was done to increase the visibility of the club and to reflect closely the home ground location in Merton.
