Kandurata cricket team>is a Sri Lankan first class cricket team which is based in Kandy representing Central Province. This team competes in two of the provincial tournaments, one is the Inter-Provincial tournament and the other is Twenty20 competition, which is also known as the Inter-Provincial Twenty20.

Founded in 1990, the team home ground is Asgiriya Stadium which is situated in Kandy. The sponsor of this team is Mas Holdings, which is a Sri Lankan apparel industrial firm. The capacity of the stadium is around 10,300 spectators.

The team made their first class cricket debut in Western Province in 1990 held at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground. The team has reputed and notable cricket players like Muttiah Muralitharan and Kumar Sangakkara. Other players include Tharanga Paranavitana, Pubudu Dassanayake, Nilantha Ratnayake, Thilan Samaraweera and many others.

Since the commencement of the Inter-provincial tournament, the team that represented the Central Province was known as the Central province team. However, from 2007-08, they were known as Kandurata team as the name, ‘Kandurata’, is Sinhalese language, meaning, “Hill Country”. The hills are situated in central province.

Major Achievements =

The Kandurata Cricket Team has won the Inter-Provincial Tournament, mainly the Inter-Provincial Limited Overs Tournament once in 2007-08. Other than this title, they even won the Inter-Provincial Twenty20.
