The International XI women’s cricket team was actually a team which took active part in two of the Women’s Cricket World Cup matches. This team was actually a best of the rest team and included players who were not selected by their own countries.

This team took part in the women’s cricket world cup in 1973 and finished in the fourth place. However, this team returned for the 1982 tournament and finished in the last position. This team overall record in the ODIs were over 18 matches, of which, the team lost 14 matches and won 3 matches.
Three were three West Indian players who participated in the International XI women’s cricket team in 1972. They competed in the world cup and none of the teams in this year fared well. But this team finished in the fourth place out of seven places. In the fifth place was the Trinidad and Tobago team with two wins and four losses. The Jamaica team finished in the sixth place and achieved one victory and four losses to their credit.

This inaugural Women’s World Cup held in 1973 was played between seven teams, namely England, International XI, Australia, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, New Zealand and Young England. In 1982, in New Zealand, the International XI women’s cricket team also took part in the five team event.

However the winner of the match was Australia and the International XI team struggled throughout the tournament, but in vain. They lost all the twelve matches though some players of the team gave a good shot which showed respectability to the team. The players include Lynne Thomas who was the second top run scorer overall and had represented England in the inaugural event.
