West Zone cricket team

The West Zone Cricket Team is a first class cricket team representing the western India in the Duleep Trophy. These are a combined team of players selected from five first class Indian teams especially from west India and competing in the Ranji Trophy, with the likes of Gujarat, Saurashtra, Baroda, Mumbai and Maharashtra.

There are many known cricketers who play under this team. To name a few of them are Zaheer Khan, Rohit Sharma, Irfan Pathan,Nayan Mongia, Vinoo Mankad, Vinod Kambli, Vijay Hazare, Sachin Tendulkar and the likes.

=== Major Achievements ===

The West Zone cricket team actually has the second strongest track record of all the zones in the Duleep Trophy. During their successive victory, they won this trophy almost 16 times and were behind the most successive team, which is the North Zone Cricket Team. This included almost four consecutive titles which is from 1961-62 season to the 1964-65 season. However, the third season victory was shared with the South Zone Cricket Team. Ultimately, in 2005-06, they won the Duleep Trophy successively.
