The Deccan Chargers was a cricket team in the Indian Premier League. They were based in Hyderabad, India. In 2009, they won the IPL title, their only IPL title win before they were dissolved in 2012.

The team was established in 2008 and was owned by the Deccan Chronicle, an Indian English-language daily newspaper. The old Chargers website redirects to the Chronicle. The last coach to serve the team was Darren Lehmann while their last team captain was Kumar Sangakkara.

The home ground for the Chargers was the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. It has a capacity of 55,000.

Their logo is that of a charging bull.

Playing History

In their early years, the Chargers were a fan favorite and were one of the top teams slated to win the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008 but they did not win it until 2009 and they failed to win it again until their dissolution in 2012.

Dissolution

The club was dissolved in 2012 after the owners failed to sell the club. The BCCI then terminated their IPL franchise.
