Saleem Jaffar
Saleem Jaffar was a tall left arm fast medium bowler from Pakistan. In 1983-84, he debuted in first class cricket and took 5 wickets for 11 runs. During the 1985-86 season, he took 80 wickets in the entire season. So, it was not astonishing that he was called to play at the international level.
In 1986, he debuted against the West Indies in both ODIs and Test matches. He was injured during the 1987 tour of England. He was badly hammered by the Australian batsmen during the 1987 Cricket World Cup. In 1987-88, while playing at Karachi against England, he claimed 5 wickets and hence was selected for the Caribbean tour. He was again selected for the tour of New Zealand in 1988-89. While playing at Wellington, he took 8 wickets for 134 runs. However, it was found that he was not sufficiently penetrative and due to this reason his career bubbled out.

Saleem Jaffar was seen in 39 ODIs in which he took the opportunity to bowl 1900 deliveries in which batsmen scored 1382 runs and he made 40 dismissals. His bowling average was 34.55, economy rate was 4.36 and bowling strike rate was 47.5. He could score only 36 runs at a batting strike rate of 49.31 and took 3 catches.
