Lalchand Rajput
Lalchand Rajput was a cricketer who played for India between the years 1985 and 1987. He replaced Sunil Gavaskar as an opening batsman. This was, of course, due to the request put forward by him to bat at the lower order. Apart from India, he also played for Scotland, Vidarbha, Mumbai, and Assam.
Lalchand Rajput made his debut in international cricket at an ODI played at ‘Vidarbha Cricket Ground’, Nagpur on 23rd of January, 1985 against England. India had won this match by 3 wickets with 14 balls to spare. He took the catch of PR Downton in this match. Moreover, he was out on a duck. He made his Test debut on 30th of August, 1985 against Sri Lanka wherein he scored 32 runs in the first innings and 61 in the second. This match was drawn.
