Big Bash League moves ahead as the first dozen matches will be completed by tomorrow when Adelaide Strikers take on Sydney Thunder.

Both teams are hoping to do well with neither side in the top four on the points table at the moment.

The league is becoming predictable of some sorts as the teams batting second have won all the matches played thus far.

This makes bowling first a tempting choice for the captain winning the toss. Having said that, there are areas of concern on both sides that will need addressing, regardless of the toss result.

Adelaide Strikers have two points from as many matches after starting their campaign on a winning note but losing to Brisbane in the last fixture. Sydney Thunder, on the other hand, are yet to score their first points after losing their bouts against Sydney Sixers and Melbourne Renegades.

Strikers failed to defend a mountainous total against Heat in a last-ball finish and were rightly dejected at the end result. Captain Johan Botha was left to rotate his bowlers around but to no avail.

On the positive note though, the batsmen came good with Callum Ferguson and Kieron Pollard amassing 100 runs between them.

The team will look to play to its strengths once again with a strong middle-order laying the foundations of a powerful batting effort.

Sydney Thunder have batted first in both their matches but that is not the only reason for their failures. Despite the presence of explosive batsmen, the grand totals have not been seen yet.

Chris Gayle always walks on to the field with plenty of expectation around him. Similarly, Azhar Mahmood holds a pivotal role with both bat and ball.

Dirk Nannes’ pace could upset the opposition batsmen who have been in good form but have not come across the fiery pace yet.

The match will be played in Sydney.
