When an Australian team comes face to face with an English side, there is bound to be a recall of the intensity that defines the rivalry.
The things will be slightly different on Tuesday though as Sydney Sixers take on Yorkshire in Cape Town. This will be first of the two matches to be played in Champions League tomorrow.
Sydney Sixers lifted themselves to the top spot in Group B with an impressive win in their opening match against Chennai Super Kings.
They won by 14 runs in a match that saw more than 350 runs plundered in the 40 overs. Brad Haddin-led side put on 185 batting first largely thanks to Shane Watson’s continuing prolific run and aided by Moises Henriques’ finishing touch.
Watson compiled 46 runs from 30 balls while Henriques smashed three sixes on his way to 49 runs from a mere 22 balls.
The bowlers were equally up to task with Henriques and Mitchell Starc picking up three wickets each.
With such a ruthless performance, there remain hardly any concerns for the Big Bash League champions at the moment.
On the other side are Yorkshire who had to take the hard route in to the main competition.
Two wins in as many matches propelled their entry when not many, including the Yorkshire captain, expected the team to progress further.
Andrew Gale will be hoping that the fact that his side are the underdogs will allow his players to play cricket freely once again and in the process find greater laurels.
The two victories - against Trinidad & Tobago and Uva Next - came on the back of well-paced run chases. Once again, Phil Jaques and David Miller will be in the limelight being the overseas players for the English side.
The match starts at 1.30pm local time in Cape Town.
