The second one-day international between England and South Africa will be played on Tuesday at the Rose Bowl following the washed out opening match on Friday, leaving either side yet to open its score in the five-match series.

Only 5.3 overs were possible when rain finally dropped the curtains on the match, after initial rains had reduced the match to 24-overs a side.

The result also ensured that England stay No. 1 on ICC’s rankings for a little while more. However, the threat of displacement will be looming large on their head as Proteas look to press further.

The hosts made a confident start nevertheless, reaching 37 without loss with Ian Bell speeding to 26 including two fours and two sixes.

England are not likely to make any changes to the squad and that would mean Ravi Bopara stays while Chris Woakes gets another game as a result of Stuart Broad being rested.

Moreover, there has been relative calm in the past few days with the Kevin Pietersen saga not making it to the headlines at least.

For South Africa, their motivation would be as high as possible. They are within striking distance of the No. 1 spot and a win in the opening match would have done just that.

At the Rose Bowl, they will be aiming to achieve their target though they have never played England at the ground before.

Their only previous ODI appearance at this ground was against Zimbabwe when they won comfortably.

In the first ODI, they opened their bowling with Morne Morkel and Lonwobo Tsotsobe who both looked slightly rusty and not in control.

Captain AB de Villiers will be hoping that the team is able to continue the intensity levels it had during the test series as well.

The day/night match starts at 1pm local time.
