The Premadasa Stadium will be the centre of much excitement on Saturday, not primarily because of the teams that will be in action, but because of the fact that Sri Lanka Premier League starts in its first season.
The challenge for the two sides - Nagenahira Nagas and Ruhuna Royals - will be to not get overwhelmed by the occasion and instead focus on their task at hand.
The tournament being played features seven teams, each representing a province. From the Eastern Province are Naganahira Nagas who were bought for $3.2 million earlier this year.
The team is led by Angelo Mathews who has been a key member of the Sri Lankan national team in recent months.
This time though, he is faced with a different challenge as he leads a seemingly weaker side. Yet he will be hoping for the maximum returns from some of the notable names he has available including Imran Nazir.
The bowling duties will largely lie on the shoulders of Nuwan Kulasekara and Ajantha Mendis and the duo can give their side an edge in defending competitive totals.
Ruhuna Royals, their opponents, look much stronger in comparison, Representing the Southern Province, the team is led by Lasith Malinga.
In addition, the coach of the team is also another deadly former fast bowler - Waqar Younis. With several international stars in the squad, the team that was bought for $4.6 million will surely look to show its worth.
Shahid Afridi is their biggest trump card that they have at hand. Afridi was initially supposed to turn up for Nagas but later ended up in the Royals camp.
Daniel Harris, Ryan Harris and Aaron Finch come together to make up a strong Australian presence while South African Richard Levi holds significance up the order to achieve brisk starts.
The match will start at 4.00pm local time.
