Kings XI Punjab will take on Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday in a match of significance for both sides. The game will be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla at 8 pm IST.
After some exciting cricket being played over the past few days in the fifth season of the Indian Premier League, the situations get interesting as seven teams are in the hunt for the coveted four spots for the playoffs.
While Delhi Daredevils are currently breathing easy at the top of the table, they would like to rectify their recent record that has seen them lose two of the last three matches. With two of the remaining three matches against Kings XI Punjab, they would ideally be looking for a win on Tuesday to secure a spot beforehand.
Delhi lost to Chennai Super Kings in embarrassing fashion on Saturday, as their top order collapsed early and the batsmen never recovered from it completely. The bowlers had too little to defend and the match was over with more than four overs remaining.
Virender Sehwag, the captain, will however be hoping that his batsmen fire, boasting of the likes of David Warner and Mahela Jayawardene in the-line-up.
For Kings XI Punjab, their hopes received a boost when they beat Deccan Chargers off the final ball of the match in a challenging run chase.
David Hussey, the captain, has led the team admirably in Adam Gilchrist’s absence as he anchored the chase with 65 not out. Crucial cameos from Azhar Mahmood and Gurkeerat Singh provided the much needed improvisation at times as Kings XI registered their seventh win.
They have the challenging ask of facing Daredevils twice in their last matches and that will surely test the strength to decide whether they are able to make it through or not.
The match will be played in Delhi, with action getting underway at 8.00pm local time.
