Younus Khan, the Pakistani captain, has said that he will not resign from the side as the captain despite Pakistan’s bad performances on the recently concluded tour of Sri Lanka. Younus Khan’s Pakistan lost the test series 2-0 and then went on to lose the first three games of the ODIs to lose that series as well, before bouncing back with a couple of wins. Younus wasn’t the captain of the T20I and his position was taken by Shahid Afridi, as Pakistan went on to win the solitary T20 game against the hosts. Not to resign from captaincy>

Younus Khan had come in for a lot of criticism, most of it coming from the former cricketers in Pakistan, including Abdul Qadir and Aamir Sohail.

Younus Khan said that while he accepted moral responsibility for the losses, but that does not mean that he will quit from the captaincy. He said, “I accept the responsibility of defeat, but will not apologise to anyone nor will I resign as captain because it’s part of the game to lose and win. I am trying my level best to lead the team and achieve the best results but some people want me to relinquish the captaincy, which I won’t. Am I not a good captain or do I lack leadership qualities?”

He also blamed the losses on the batsmen’s inconsistencies. He said that one should look at the performances of the team in the last two games of the ODI series where the tourists won both the game by huge margins to get an idea of well the team could perform. He also said that there was no groupism within the side and slammed at those who had suggested that match-fixing was the reason for the Pakistani losses.
