India defeated Australia by 2-0 in the Test series and won the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

When Zaheer Khan bowled his first delivery to Ricky Ponting, he was squared up on the back foot and there was an edge which was not carried to Rahul Dravid at first slip. However, umpire Billy Bowden did not accept that Clarke was leg before wicket and this left Sharma astonished. Zaheer Khan was not very happy when in a space of his three deliveries, the batsman edged two times wide of second slip. When Hayden was on 36, he attempted a powerful reverse sweep and was dropped by Dravid at slip. Thereafter, Hayden found form and exhibited some potent sweeps and adroit reverse-sweeps. The Aussie run rate was more than 5 per over. A topspinner of almost perfect length was bowled by Mishra to Michael Hussey and there was an edge to Dravid at slip which he held correctly to send Hussey back to the pavilion. When Hayden had struck a boundary to midwicket, Harbhajan Singh bowled an airy and turning delivery which trapped Hayden leg before wicket.

Brad Haddin gave a catch to Sachin Tendulkar at mid-off off the bowling of Mishra. This was Sachin’s 100th Test catch. Shane Watson was caught by Dhoni off the bowling of Harbhajan for nine. Further, Dhoni stumped Jason Krejza off the bowling of Mishra. Brett Lee gave an edge to short leg off the bowling of Harbhajan.
